Ateneo de Cebu is known as one of the best schools in Central Visayas. Our school has a vision-mission of which the objective is to inspire the students and shape them to become better persons for God’s greater glory. It aims to form servant leaders and it strives to inspire students to do more and be more so that they can become men and women for others. The school also aims to embed the 7 core values namely Christ-centeredness, conscience, compassion, character, culture, competence and community. We need to acquire these traits because the school follows the teachings of Jesus, because it helps us strengthen our faith and because it is essential in our moral life so that we can exhibit love and care for one another. The school associates the Filipino culture with the culture of the Chinese, which makes it a Chinese- Filipino school. This is important for communication purposes which may lead to successful businesses in the future.

The school has a DOSS, in which “DOSS” stands for Discipline Office and Students Services. It is one of the school facilities that help discipline the students, aside from the teachers. It also has a guidance office to help comfort those students in need of advice and/or guidance and steer them in the right path.

The school’s curriculum is up to date with all subjects like English, Math, Science, Social Studies, CLF, Filipino, Chinese, Computer and MAPEH.

Going back to the extra curricular activities our school offers, in the field of sports we have a few clubs and varsities for girls and boys like volleyball, basketball, swimming, soccer, track and field, and table tennis. In the academic field, we have a Mathletes Training Program, IYS (Ignitied Young Scientists), and a few clubs. We also have a Dance Troupe, a Glee Club, a Chess and Scrabble Varsity, a debate team, TAG (Theatre Arts Guild), Likha (for Arts and Crafts), Red Cross, YCS (Yound Culinary Society), Scouting, CAT and much more! We also offer different electives for Science, Math, English and Social Studies. The school aims to enrich the talents and special skills and abilities of each and every student. Some students who are well-trained take part in different competitions not only in Cebu, but also nationwide.

Our school is complete with facilities which are useful for the different programs and activities our school has to offer.  It is complete with classrooms, computer laboratories, 4 high school science laboratories which are the General Science Lab, the Biology Lab, the Chemistry Lab and the Physics Lab, two HS AVRs, a Faculty Room, an MPR, an HE Room, a mini theater, a clinic, a music room, computer laboratories, a chapel, a covered court (school gym) complete with volleyball and basket ball courts and a swimming pool, a field, an activity center, a student council room, a scouting room, a 2-floor canteen, and bathrooms. Our school has 3 buildings with ramps and stairs, 3 gates, a parking lot across the Grand Lobby, and a fountain.

The school also celebrates a few exciting annual festivals and activities like Buwan ng Wika, when we celebrate our very own Filipino culture. Intramurals, when we build teamwork and competence when competing to become champions. United Nations, when we wear different costumes, celebrate the unity of different nations and represent different countries. English week, this is when we have speech choirs and book character day. Science and Math Days when we have different quiz bowls and competitions. Christmas Fair, when we celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus and Chinese New Year, when we embrace the Chinese culture. We also go on outreach programs and recollections annually.

I’ve made no regrets about transferring to this school and I could say that it’s worth it.  I can proudly say that I’m an Ateneo Hearter. My experiences in this school shaped me into the person I am today, a person my parents can be proud of. Education is an important component of life.
